Overview

In the middle of the action is Camp Riverview located just south of Garner State Park. Since it has one of the largest commercial camping areas on the Frio River, Camp Riverview may very well have some of the best scenery in the entire Frio River valley. Because of an abundant number of mixed-use RV and tent sites, this is an attractive choice for tent camping next to the river.

Accommodations

The accommodation at Camp Riverview is comfortable, affordable and highly efficient. It ranges from tent camping and RV spots to fully furnished cabins. Some of the tent sites are only feet away from the river. It would be hard to get any closer without getting your socks wet!

Camp Riverview has lots of space for RVs

TIP: If you need an RV rental, we have an app for that! After reading about the abundant RV spots that Camp Riverview has, check out this page HERE. Renting a camper, travel trailer or motorhome could be an awesome way to save your vacation if you didn’t make reservations for a cabin in time.

As for the RVs, 30 and 50 amp options are available. The sites themselves vary considerably in size. For groups of up to 20, there are double sites designed to keep two RVs. And, just for larger groups of up to 40 the team offers what’s known as the “Family Camp,” designed for events such as family reunions. That has room for four RVs, plus tents, so you won’t be short of space! Plus, each and every space comes with its own canopy to shield guests from the sun, as well as water, electricity, picnic tables and a classic BBQ grill. The owners are pet-friendly – on the camp sites, that is. For any queries concerning pet policy, it’s best to check their website (bottom of page for pet policy) or contact the team directly.

Camp Riverview Cabins

Meanwhile, the rustic cabins are designed to house up to six guests in supreme comfort. The cabins have full air conditioning and furnishings. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, coffee pot – pretty much all you could want. And outside, you’ll find a picnic table and charcoal BBQ for those cool hill country summer evenings. All you need are linens, towels and toiletries and you’re all set.

A word about amenities at Camp Riverview

The campground itself offers pretty much every amenity you could want. From a fully-stocked store to a laundry room, to shower facilities, it’s all there. The store is your one stop shop for souvenirs, food and clothes, plus any other supplies you might need. The laundry room is fully equipped with coin-operated washing machines and dryers. The restrooms and shower facilities are clean as a whistle and well-maintained.

But it’s not purely function – it’s about having a good time too. There are numerous outdoor activities available on-site, including volleyball. In addition, there is a playground for the little ones to blow off some steam. For as little as $60 dollars a night you can have a spot on this beautiful site all of your own.

There’s always something (or nothing at all) to do

Along the Frio River, the main event is always going to be the water itself. Naturally you will be welcome to take to the rapids as much as you like during your stay. You can go tubing, kayaking, or pretty much anything else you can think of. The adrenaline junkies can set off on the rapids, while the less adventurous can simply drift at their leisure. There’s room on the Frio for everybody, and that’s not taking into account the fishing!

Scenery And Wide Open Spaces

Most of the visitors to the area are there to make the most of the glorious scenery, fresh air and wide open space. In the vicinity you will find the vast expanse of the Garner State Park, which is perfect for hiking, climbing and exploring. But it also offers live music and dancing under the stars. A gorgeous place to spend your time, and to forge memories that will last for years to come! Likewise, the Lost Maples Natural Area is perhaps best known for its legendary fall colors, but there is much else to recommend it. Whether you’re into fishing, birding or backpacking, you’ll find all tastes catered for along its rugged trails.

Other attractions near Camp Riverview

Another local landmark is the Hill Country Adventures, the nature center famed for its annual Hill Country Nature Quest. This allows tourists to experience birds, bats, butterflies and wildflowers all in their natural habitat. It’s a perfect day out for the family.

Dining And Live Music

There are a whole host of eateries in the region, so whatever you are craving there’ll be something to suit your taste. The closest and therefore most convenient option is the House Pasture Restaurant, which is an affordable, family-run business specializing in local cuisine. If it’s chicken, steak, wings or anything in between, you’ll find it on the menu at House Pasture. But aside from their culinary delights, they also offer sensational live music, featuring some of the most respected artists in the Americana, Outlaw and Texas Country genres.

Or, for less of a crowd, but still a great atmosphere, check out Hippie Chics River Shack for a quick bite. Likewise, Garner State Park has the Garner Grill. And, we can’t forget about Neal’s Dining Room.

Intellectual Stimulation

Or if you are more culturally-minded, you’ll also find plenty to fire up your imagination. In the nearby town of Leakey, Texas you’ll find the Real County Historical Museum, which offers an insightful overview of local history, as well as a loving tribute to Real County. Leakey also has the Real County Public Library, which offers a whole host of events to keep you intellectually stimulated.

In Conclusion

As you can see, Camp Riverview has much to recommend it. Whatever your taste or sensibility, you’ll find something to delight you. But really the best thing you can do is to pay them a visit for yourself; it’s the only way to appreciate the grandeur of the location and the homely comforts on offer at this wonderful site.
